Yes I know, I haven’t updated in half a year. The reason for my lack of updates actually isn’t because I’ve been too busy or too lazy. It’s just that a while ago, I decided that I was going to let this blog die.
I started this website when I was a broke college student in the process of becoming a broke, underpaid college grad. I always had a knack for saving money, and thought it would be fun to start this site.
Now that a few years have passed, I’ve been able to make significant upgrades to my life and I guess I am no longer “broke”, so I figured it was time to put this blog to rest. Additionally, when I go back and read about what I used to do to save money, I kind of feel a very slight urge to cringe a bit.
I was also somewhat concerned that the site could possibly give off a bad first impression to people who I just met and don’t know me that well. Not that my name is associated with this blog or anything, but making the connection is pretty easy. On top of that, since I follow my own advice, my posts also kind of started interfering with my social life.
Somewhat recently, I had taken a girl out on the exact date in the article linked above. And when I say “exact”, I mean I literally followed it to the word, from start to finish. Anyways about a week later, she ended up reading the post and, as you can probably guess, I never heard from her again. Haha…ha…ha… oops. I won’t go into detail, but I have to admit that it was a pretty hilarious (and also kind of sad) turn of events.
And while keeping up with this site is fun and all, I’m not completely sure if posting my useless advice to the internet for cheap laughs was worth cock blocking my future self.
Anyways, for a number of reasons, I previously decided it was time to retire Iamhellacheap and move on to pursue more prestigious things. So, I stopped updating for several months and thought that I was growing up and maturing. “It’s time to become more politically correct and professional. I am turning 25 this year”, I thought.
But then yesterday I had a change of heart. I was like, “Eh… fuck it, who am I kidding? I’m not ready yet.”
So I changed my mind and I’m bringing this blog out of hibernation. Actually to be honest, a huge reason I decided to come back was because a couple of super random people had asked me why I wasn’t updating and let me know that they enjoyed reading. And if I could be completely serious for a second, I actually really appreciated what they said and it meant a lot more to me than I thought it would.
So yeah, Iamhellacheap is back full force, and I just want to sincerely thank everybody for the support over the past three years. I am fully aware that 80% of what I write on here is completely pointless, and I am just so happy that you still enjoy reading it. I’m also going to try to do a better job promoting my site, so for the first time ever I am asking that if you like it, please share with your friends as well as click that “like” button on the right sidebar. Thanks and will be updating again soon.
